Hyundai’s legendary Santro brand is all set to make a comeback in the Indian market. While the official launch of the hatchback has been scheduled for 23rd October, the South Korean car maker. Designed especially for the Indian market, the new Hyundai Santro 2018 is said to be based on six pillars – “modern stylish tallboy design, comfortable and premium cabin, new age technology, customer centric safety, all round performance and complete peace of mind”.
Design and styling of the new Hyundai Santro 2018 is based on ‘Rhythmical Tension” and the hatchback receives comprehensive upgrades. For enhancing its comfort and safety quotient, Hyundai might offer lots of goodies with the vehicle. Though, the carmaker has confirmed that new Santro features the segment-first 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system supporting Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link along with voice recognition function and rear parking camera display. The hatchback also gets first-in-class rear AC vents.
Hyundai will also offer 3 years/100,000kms warranty and 3 year road side assistance with the 2018 Santro. The carmaker claims that it has the lowest cost of maintenance with doorstep service facility. Based on the findings of its marketing and sales department, the new 2018 Hyundai Santro has been designed in India by Hyundai’s R&D centre in Hyderabad. Initially, the production of the hatchback will India focused. The company will begin exports only in 2019.

Under the hood, the new Hyundai Santro 2018 houses a 1.1-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine that’s claimed to deliver “all round performance”. The new gasoline motor produces power worth 68bhp (69PS) at 5,500rpm and 99Nm of torque at 4,500rpm. For performing transmission duties, the hatchback gets a 5-speed manual and new AMT (Smart Auto) gearbox. The new gearbox has been developed.

NEW HYUNDAI SANTRO 2018 EXTERIOR
As mentioned above, the 2018 Hyundai Santro is built on a new platform with 63% Advanced High Strength Steel (AHSS) and High Strength Steel (HSS). It not only claims to achieve optimum static and dynamic stiffness, but improve the structural integrity as well. While the hatchback continues to feature tallboy design, it looks more mature and refreshing than its predecessor. The new Santro shares some of its design bits with its elder sibling – the Grand i10.
The front fascia of the new Hyundai Santro 2018 looks completely different from the previous model. Upfront, the hatchback features a revised bumper, a new grille, larger headlamps and high-mounted fog lamp assembly. It also get Hyundai’s signature cascade front grille with chrome surround. The 2018 Hyundai Santro sports pronounced black inserts and a bulky taillamps as we have seen on the Grand i10. The window line has Honda Mobilio inspired kink running towards the rear window glass. The steel wheels wrapped in full wheel cover will be standard across the carline. The new Hyundai hatchback is claimed to be a “contemporary family-oriented product” with “bigger and wider” dimensions than the old model. The 2018 Santro is 3610mm long and sits on a 45mm longer wheelbase than the old model.
NEW HYUNDAI SANTRO 2018 INTERIOR
The dual-tone (Beige and Black) interior theme with colour extending to fabric seat upholstery gives a premium appearance to the 2018 Hyundai Santro hatchback. The carmaker has confirmed that the hatchback comes with a 7.0-inch touchscreen flanked by vertically oriented air-con vents. It’s compatible to smartphone connectivity including Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and Mirror Link along with voice recognition function and rear parking camera display.
It’s also first vehicle in its league to feature rear AC vents with claimed best-in-class AC unit. The 2018 Hyundai Santro also equipped with the company’s patent ‘Eco Coating Technology’ that degrades the micro-organism in the AC evaporator and prevents unpleasant cabin odour.
Other features on offer might include a three-spoke steering wheel with mounted audio controls, a twin-pod instrument console, door lock finished in brushed silver, front power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs and adjustable headrests. With an aim to improve its safety quotient, the carmaker equips the new 2018 Hyundai Santro with standard driver-side airbag and ABS (anti-lock braking system) with EBD (electronic brake-force distribution).
